Three Tab Shingles
Architectural Shingles
Shingles are designed to overlap - see illustration below - and create a surface that water cannot penetrate. Shingles are made up of three major components: Fiberglass matt, asphalt and grit. Over the years the shingles deteriorate and get damages by wind, hail, falling tree limbs and the sun. The shingles everntually fail and water can penetrate your home.
Plumbing Vent Stack Boots
Vent stack boots are a transition seal from ones roof to the vent pipes that you see rising above your roof. The seals are called vent boots and are made of rubber, their life expectancy is 3 to 5 years depending on exposure to direct sun and the elements.
Vent Boots should be checked every three years.
